 Title  This is the Sea
After the cease-fire of 1994 things quieted-down considerably in Belfast. Yet, some with seething passions, took the struggle underground causing 'disruptions' and planting seeds of mistrust. The young lovers of the story are unknowing pons in a game not of their choosing. We see young Catholic men pressured into joining the IRA and Protestant youths raised from birth to hate all Catholics. What is unusual about this film is that the police are seen with a sympathetic eye. Rather than being depicted as corrupt, incompetent or taking sides with the Protestants, the police here are shown as hard-working, decent fellows with and impossible situation to deal with.
