The Irish in Film
A Complete List of Irish Films

 Title  Red Roses And Petrol
Dublin librarian and would be poet, our quintessential Irishman sails through life blind to the carnage in his wake. And speaking of wakes…. When he dies, this man who has touched so many lives including those of his wife, children and university students, has the most peculiar Irish wake. Nobody came. The film unrolls slowly with his family, sequestered waiting for unforthcoming guests. Drinking, dancing and telling stories of Da's past, the family carries on with the wake anyway. But, what is usually a light ritual turns dark. As in Long Days Journey Into Night, the stories reveal small bits of the past that gradually build into a whole. They tell how the family's past has shaped their present. Link to reviews Click picture
