| Title Oscar Wilde: Wit's End |
| This film, from the popular series, Biography, covers Wilde from cradle to grave, focusing on the man, not his writing. Wilde was born in Ireland to wealthy members of the Irish Ascendancy. Both England and Ireland claim him as one of their most famous writers. Neither country has the greater claim for both titles fit. His childhood in Ireland with his parents' love of all things Irish, influenced his life and writing. Yet, his Oxford education (where he picked up Aestheticism) and years of mingling with London's social elite gave him the subjects of his writing.
