The Irish in Film
A Complete List of Irish Films

 Title  Monument Ave.
Set in Charlestown, Massachusetts, (on the outskirts of Boston) where the mean-streets lifestyle of the Irish-Americans that never made it out of the Irish ghetto still exists. When the Irish arrived in the US many flocked to Irish neighborhoods where they "looked after their own." As time passed and ethnic patterns changed most Irish assimilated into mainstream America. Yet in New York, Chicago, and Boston, pockets of Irish (usually with some connection to organized crime or the Irish mob) live the lifestyle fashioned when discrimination against the Irish was rife and the Irish ghetto was the only place to find work and acceptance.
