The myth of the leprechauns will never be quite the same. Filmmakers, curiously unaware of the sanctity of myth, apparently feel they can make up leprechaun lore as they go along. For instance the characters in this film hold up four-leaf clovers to ward off leprechauns in the way crosses are used against vampires.
