The Irish in Film
A Complete List of Irish Films

 Title  I Went Down
This gangster movie set in Ireland shows us gangsters without the hard edge; which, according to films anyway, makes them different from the usual gangsters. Our hero, Git, defends his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend from gangsters landing himself deep in hot water. This shows a somewhat different view of the value of life. Other people's life. This altruism is a better fit in firemen than in organized crime members. Yet, Git, though reluctantly at first, begins to work for the gang. Though gang members, the characters care a lot about personal honor. Rather than lies, they tell each other the truth but in a way that wins people over, a subtle yet surprisingly effective method.
